Thunderstorm

Ross grumbled to himself. Relaxing once he reached the final step. "Thank the gods."

"I would think royalty could afford to keep their steps in shape," remarked Mikaela as they arrived behind him.

Ross shrugged. "The royal family isn't in charge of the school directly. They have a lord to take care of it."

"The lord should inspect more often," said Mikaela.

Ross shrugged. "I heard he's magicaly inept. I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to be in the magical studies areas."

"Oh. Guess I can understand that," Mikaela replied.

Ross nodded. "I can't say I'm much better. Other then my transformations I'm not good at magic. I can barely control my transfromations sometimes."

"Not sure if our powers count as magic here or not," admitted Mikaela. "We gave our hearts to Quetzalcoatl, and in exchange we get some of his power."

Ross blinked. "That sounds like a stupid trade really..."

"It is," agreed Mikaela. "A stupid trade a surprising amount of people do."

Ross nodded. Frowning as he heard a loud explosion followed by cursing. "Well someone is down here....who knew."

"Well I would hope so," said Mikaela. "I want to see other people's magic."

Ross shrugged. "I haven't been down here in a while." He walked into the battle magic training area, a few students sparing against eachother.

Both Mikaela and the Prince watched the spars with interest. It wasn't just the magic they were interested in, but also the various methods of fighting.

Ross leaned against the wall. Watching as some stuck to a fully magical way of attacking and defending. Others using hand to hand combat as well.

"So do thet just practice fighting here, or do they learn new techniques as well?" asked Mikaela.

Ross nodded. "The room is open for pratice as long as a teacher is informed for safety reasons. The times and dates for classes are on the wall most of the time. Inless some idiot pyro burns the list down."

"That a regular occurrence?" Mikaela asked with a smirk.

Ross shrugged. "Only a bit. Mostly happens with the new students that can't control their powers...or have any aim at all."

"Sounds like they need shields around the lists," Mikaela suggested. "Or something magic-proof, anyway."

Ross chuckled. "I guess we'll have to tell someone about that wonderful idea."

"Do that," Mikaela replied with a smug grin. Suddenly she found herself evading a blast of ice, which froze the wall behind her. "...Tell them they need shields for the spectators too while you're at it."

Ross chuckled. "Honestly there is no such thing here. If you're in the room you're praticing. If you can't handle it you have to leave."

"Guess you got a point," Mikaela replied. "It's not like there's any barriers at the tournament either. If you're a spectator at the wrong place and wrong time, you'll be going to the medical wing along with the fighters."

Ross blinked. "Then next time I'll make sure to sit further away from the action..."
