Rain Dance

Just then Ava came in, Adair riding on her back. "Hi Volty! Hi Kimi!"

"Hey," Voltaire greeted. "Feeling better Adair?"

"Yeah, mostly," the redhead replied. "Nothing a good sleep won't fix...Why is Kimi wearing your clothes?"

"She got tired of dresses."

Kimi smiled and gave a little twirl. "What do you think?" She asked happily.

"Uh...yeah, it works," Adair replied. "Easier to move around in than a dress."

"That's the idea," said Voltaire.

"Can't fight in a dress." Kimi replied. She skipped over to Voltaire and hugged him again, nuzzling her face into his chest.

"Yeah," Voltaire replied, holding her and nuzzling her hair. The fight tomorrow had him nervous.

"Well you probably won't have to fight yet, but it's good to think ahead," said Adair. "Dresses aren't made for travel, not really."

Voltaire kept his face buried in Kimi's hair.

"I can only wear long dresses, so they get troublesome." Kimi replied with a smile. "And Voltaire said I might fight tomorrow, if you're not well enough, right Taire?"

"...Yeah," Voltaire replied.

"...I don't know if that's a good idea," said Adair. "You just turned changeling recently. And tomorrow it's the Dragons. That's not a good place to start."

"Whatever, it's not confirmed," Voltaire answered. "We were just discussing using the summons in battles, and it sounds like they'd be effective against the Dragons."

"But it would have to be Fiona cause Trevor's poisonous" Kimi chirped.

"Yeah, no killing other competitors. We wouldn't last long then," remarked Adair, before yawning.

"Haven't you slept enough already?" asked Voltaire.

"No."

Kimi shoved Voltaire half heartedly. "Be nice. He hit his head." She scolded lightly.

"Well yeah, guess you got a point," Voltaire replied lazily, before yawning himself. "Damn it Mr. Hero, you're contagious."

Kimi smiled. "I'm gonna go for a walk." She chirped, heading towards the door. "Get some rest"

"Where are you going?" asked Voltaire.

"Just a walk" Kimi assured him with a smile.

Voltaire wasn't satisfied with that answer, but let it be. If she didn't want to tell him, fine. He trusted her. Besides, Ava could track her down if needed, since the phoenix now held her heart.

Kimi smiled and continued on her way out. She didn't have a destination in mind, she just wanted to wander.

Voltaire may have been tired, but he didn't want to sleep yet. He started working one of his his contraptions instead. He wished he hadn't left the rooster behind when they had fled the Gales. He hoped the robotic chicken gave one of the heartless Heroes a good blast of fire to the face.

Kimi cheerfully wandered the empty halls. She was too excited to sit still or sleep, even though she was tired.

Mikaela noticed her wandering around and floated over. "Hey, looking for Blondie?"

Kimi jumped and her face flushed dark green. She quickly shook her head and quickened her pace.

Mikaela felt a little miffed at Kimi's response, but wasn't surprised. "Whatever. I only attack Blondie because it's the only way to shut him up. How do you stand being around him all the time?"

Kimi ducked her head to not make eye contact and hurried even more. She was still intimidated by the floating girl.

Mikaela snorted. "Fine. Whatever. Just trying to be social." She drifted elsewhere.

Kimi ducked around a corner. She stood there with her back against the wall, trembling alone for a little bit.

Voltaire remained oblivious of Kimi's little encounter, continuing to fuss over his metal creations. Adair had already fallen back asleep, and so had Ava.
