Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Nonsense! Chasing a wet griffin pup will be far better for me!" Maple beamed back. "If I try to relax now, I'll just make myself depressed."

"Alright, if you say so." Pheobie sighed. "I'll clean up in here before running more bath water."

"Alright dear," Maple replied, before going to pursuit of the wet griffin pup. He wasn't hard to follow, since he left a trail of water behind him. It led Maple to the couch in the lounge room, where Goldie lay innocently.

"Off!" Maple commanded. The griffin pup stayed where he was.

Pheobie got another towel out and began cleaning up the watery mess, starting with the floor. It wouldn't do if she fell and hurt herself.

"Off!!" Maple commanded more forcefully, and Goldie slinked off the couch, whining. Maple went over, spreading the towel out in front of him as he went. "Now let's get you dried off."

Goldie spooked at the sight of the outspread towel though, and skittered off.

"Hey! Get back here!" Maple yelled, pursuing.

Pheobie had just finished dying the floor when Goldie came rushing back in. He hid behind her. "Goldie, shoo"

Maple came in, Goldie scurried into the bath tub, and soon both of them were out again.

Pheobie sighed and redried the floor. She went ahead and drained the tub this time, in case Goldie decided to come back.

"Gotcha!" Maple cackled, as he pounced on Goldie and wrapped him in the towel. The griffin pup whined. "Oh come now, it's not so bad."

Pheobie closed the bathroom door before turning back to the tub. Thinking better of it she returned to the door and stuck her head out. "Maple? Wanna take a bath with me? Or, um a shower? It'll save on water" she called

Maple felt himself blush. Goldie scampered off, still half-draped in towel

Oh come now, it's nothing you haven't seen, said a devious part of him.

"Um...sure. Water conservation," Maple replied a little stiffly, heading over.

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.

"Bath or shower?" Pheobie asked, leaving the door open and moving back to the tub.

"Bath," Maple replied.

Pheobie started running the bath. "Alright, I can do that. Want bubbles?"

"Yeah, that should be fine," answered Maple.

Pheobie poured a little bit of bubble solution into the water after checking the temperature. She hummed a little as she worked.

Maple waited, trying to think of anything to say. His mind was strangely blank.

When the tub was full enough, Pheobie turned the water off. "Go ahead and get in first. I'll get you a towel" She stated, headed to get a towel.

"...Alright," Maple replied, waiting to strip until she left (not that she hadn't seen it before, he knew). He climbed into the bathtub.

Pheobie came back and set the towel off to the side and slipped her own off to join him. She sat on the opposite side of the tup as Maple, so they were facing each other.

Maple looked away shyly. This should not have made him nervous, not on top of what else they had done together. But he felt awkward anyway.

Pheobie tilted her head. "Is something the matter, Skye?" She asked

"Oh no, it's just my nerves are fried," Maple reassured quickly. "Once the heat melts my brain enough it shouldn't be so bad."

Pheobie smiled. She leaned forward between his legs and kissed his forehead softly. "Don't worry" She murmured.
