Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

The group seemed mildly curious about her.

"I know what you're thinking," said Maple. "Who in the universe would be crazy enough to travel with me for an extended period of time? Well, apparently she is."

"Hi" Pheobie chirped somewhat shyly. "M' Pheobie" She held Mr Kitty up slighlty "This is Mr Kitty" she nudged Goldie at her side slightly "And this is Goldie"

"Nice to meet you," replied one of the researchers. "I'm Smith. This is Jones and John. We're assistants here."

"Nice to meet you too" Pheobie smiled.

"Well, I need to get going. Worlds to maintain," said Maple, rustling her hair some. "I'll be back whenever."

"Vyle!" cried a voice from the ship, causing Maple to jump. He had forgotten about Groovy, who had just scampered into sight.

"Uh, return," said Maple, hastily beaming Groovy back into its Pokeball. "...Yeah, I'm not supposed to have it. It followed me."

Pheobie bit her lip. "Be careful" She stated shyly.

"I'll try," Maple replied, handing her his Pokeballs. "Take care of these guys too."

Pheobie nodded and shifted Mr Kitty so she could take them. "I will" She promised

"Thanks," Maple replied. He didn't want to show too much affection, but he didn't want to worry Pheobie either. "Take care, okay?"

Pheobie nodded. "Don't worry about me, I'm spunky" She smiled reassuringly.

"Just the way I like it," Maple replied with a grin as he began to walk off. "I'll see you later!"

One of the assistants turned to Pheobie. "Are you ready?"

Pheobie nodded. "Do I need to put Goldie on a leash?" She asked

"Yeah," the one named Smith replied. "This place is pretty big."

Pheobie pulled the leash and collar out of her pocket and crouched down to fasten it around his neck.

Goldie still didn't like the leash.

"Okay" Pheobie smiled as she straightened

"Alright, this way," said Smith, as he and the others led. "It won't be anything fancy since this is short notice, but we'll find a place for you."

"Its okay" Pheobie smiled. "Chances are it will be nicer than where I used to live so I'm not worried"

They walked along for a while, some of the other people there giving Pheobie a curious or mildly suspicious glance.

"They're not mean. They're just not used to outsiders here," explained Jones, before the group paused before a blank door. "Here we are."

"Eh. I'm used to both counts." Pheobie shrugged with a sigh. "Thank you though" She smiled

"No problem," said Jones, as he unlocked the door. The inside consisted of one small room with a bed and a private bathroom. The walls were white and plain.

"Like I said, nothing fancy, but it should do for now," said Smith.

Pheobie smiled as she stepped in. "Its wonderful" She stated as the lighlty touched the wall, causing it to turn a bright blue.

The others jumped a little at the sudden color change.

"Oh yeah, Professor Maple mentioned something about that," said Smith. "Just make sure you can change it back if anyone fusses. Which I don't think they would once they knew it wasn't permanent."

"Yeah I can change it back" Pheobie replied, the wall white again before she finishes speaking.

"Okay, shouldn't be a problem then," Smith replied. "Anyway, there's a phone on the wall if you need anything. I know it's kinda old fashioned, but we always lose the portable ones."

"M'kay" Pheobie smiled. "I think I'll be okay though. I can amuse myself"

"I imagine having pets will help too," said Smith. "Well, we gotta get back to work. See you around."

The three assistants left the room.

Meanwhile, Maple was helping to get the ship ready for travel. This ship was much bigger than his usual one.
