Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Oh, um, I-I don't remember" Pheobie's face flushed slightly in embarrassment. "Usually someone shows me around to where I need to go then takes me back, I don't leave the room much"

"Well that makes things a bit more difficult," said the assistant. "Do you know who your neighbors are?"

Pheobie shook her head. "No, all I know is smith usually comes to get me. I don't know many people here."

"I saw Smith around earlier..." said the assistant, before spotting the person in question walking by. "Hey Smith!"

Smith jumped. "Yeah?"

"Girl here wants to go back to her room," the assistant replied.

"Her's name Pheobie," said Smith.

"You know I suck at names. Most people who work here long enough do."

"I don't remember how to get back" Pheobie mumbled

"It's okay, I'll show you back," said Smith. "Ignore the forgetful sourpuss."

The assistant just huffed and left.

Pheobie slipped to her feet and nodded. "Thank you" She mumbled

"You're welcome," Smith replied as he started to lead the way. "...Uh...the professor's here. Do you want to see him first?"

Pheobie ducked her head to hide her blush. "N-no" she mumbled

"You sure?" asked Smith, seeming surprised. "Well, he's probably sleeping anyway. It's pretty late actually."

"I'm sure" Pheobie mumbled

"Okay then. It's been kind of a long day, huh?" said Smith.

Pheobie nodded.

Smith led her back to her room. "Well, hope you'll...feel okay, and stuff. Call if there's any trouble."

Pheobie nodded. She stepped into the room and Goldie practically pounced on her. "To bed" She sighed, climbing into bed, the griffin climbing up with her.

Maple was finally allowed to walk around the next day, though he had to stay in the medical wing. His hurt arm was in a sling.

Pheobie stayed hidden in the room. She spent most of the day sick in the bathroom again, and when she was finally stable enough to get out of the bathroom, she had no appetite.

Maple hadn't seen Pheobie all day, and that bothered him. It wasn't like her not to come.

Pheobie stayed in bed, Goldie laying across her feet. Goldie seemed to know something was wrong with her.

Maple was sulking when Smith came to visit. "Have you seen Pheobie?"

"No, not today," Smith admitted. "Had Jones call to check on her. Still feeling sick he said."

"Oh," Maple replied. That would explain why she hadn't come. But it still bothered him.

Pheobie was also hiding. She was afraid to tell Maple she was pregnant. She was afraid and scared and unsure of what to do.

Maple brooded. "Hey, can I borrow your GS so I can call her?"

"Well, I guess so," said Smith. "But I don't think she'll be up for talking much. Might have to throw up sometime in the middle of your conversation."

"I don't plan on anything long," said Maple. "I just...feel like I have to talk to her. And if she's that sick why isn't she back here at the medical wing?"

"Says she didn't want to go back," Smith replied, shrugging. "Can't really blame her. No one likes being at the doctors alone."

"Least of all me," said Maple. "Can I have that GS?"

Pheobie yawned and rolled onto her side. Mr Kitty jumped up and laid by her head while Goldie shifted on her feet.

Maple dialed in Pheobie's room number and then waited for an answer.

When the phone rang, Pheobie groaned. She really didn't want to get up to answer it.
