Saving Soul

"Leave that to me," said Voltaire, going in first. "Traps are my specialty." He began scanning the room for possible hiding spots.

Anja stayed at the door watching. "Loose board two feet to your left." She stated.

"Loose sword two feet above your head," Voltaire replied. "Might wanna move."

Adair looked up to see a blade dangling by a weakening string. He pulled himself and Anja out of the way right before it fell.

"Thank you" Anja replied. "See anything nice in there?"

Voltaire used a breath of fire to trigger an spike trap from a safe distance. "Looks like money mostly. Some jewelry. A couple swords."

"Well I can buy us supplies with the money." Anja stated "Any knives or daggers?"

"Don't see any, but there might be," replied Voltaire.

A spindly, frosty creature emerged from the pile of gold coins. It eyed Voltaire menacingly.

"Wow, an ice imp. Big deal," Voltaire said dryly, vanquishing it easily with a blast of fire. He began sifting through the treasure and stuffing it into his sack.

"It safe to come in now?" Anja asked

"Yeah, should be good," Voltaire replied, not turning to look at them as he stuffed his sack.

After looking around to be sure, Adair also went forward and began collecting treasure.

Anja stepped in and moved to the weapons. She sorted through them, looking for something useful.

"Here's a dagger," said Adair, setting it aside. It had a golden hilt with red swirling designs painted on it.

"Bah. Ornamental crap. Blade is set in the hilt wrong." Anja stated after a glance. "Some nobleman's expensive toy."

Adair felt a little embarrassed at not looking over the blade better. He knew enough of blades to tell a good from a bad if he paid attention.

"Found some hunting knives" Anja stated. She shoved them in her bag. She stopped with an amazed look. "Oh Hell Yeah!" She grinned. "Adair, guess what I just found." She held up a marble dagger.

"Alright," said Adair with a smile. "Something that won't melt."

Anja slid it into her bag and continued to sort through the weapons. "All I'm seeing is ornamental shit, oh, spoke too soon. Here's a marble sword too." She chuckled. "But I'm not seeing anything else useful for our cause. You guys fill your bags yet?" She asked, slipping the marble sword in her bag to join the matching dagger.

"Just about," said Voltaire, stuffing in a few more handfuls of coins. Adair had mostly filled his bag as well.

Anja moved over and set her bag down by the diminished pile. "See if we can fit the last of it in here."

"Fair enough," said Adair. "The more we can take the better."

"Exactly." Anja smiled. "Its not like they'd be using it for anything good anyway."

"Probably not," remarked Adair. He came over to help with Anja while Voltaire was tying his now-full bag shut.

"Next town we get near, I can swing in and buy us some supplies. How's that sound?" Anja asked

"Sounds good," replied Voltaire. "We're known, but you're not. It'd be easier for you to buy stuff."

Adair wasn't as happy about it. He knew what happened last time they dropped her off.

"I'm also technically dead." Anja stated

"That too," said Voltaire, lifting his bag over his shoulder. "At least as far as anybody knows."

Adair had filled his bag and was tying it.
