Rain Dance

"Sure, if you want," Curtis replied.

Kimi's face broke into a grin and she nodded. "Oh yes please! Its much more helpful than training by myself" She stated

"Agreed. I'm tired of sparring with Barrett all the time," Curtis replied, taking a defensive stance. "You ready?"

Kimi smiled and took up an attack stance. She nodded.

Curtis summoned a flurry of bones, surrounding him like a shield.

Kimi stopped for a minute, blinking in confusion. She hadn't realized that he ment with powers. She still wasn't keen on using her own.

"It's important to practice your powers too," said Curtis. "You'll be using them in most battles both in and out of the tournament."

Kimi nodded slowly. "They wanted me to practice hand to hand and defense..." She murmured softly. "Taire-Voltaire was going to teach me more how to use my powers... Mostly I have my summons."

"I heard one of those summons nearly ate Mikaela," Curtis noted with some amusement. "Do you want to stick to hand-to-hand combat for now?"

Kimi's face flushed slightly, giving her face a greenish tinge. "Yes please" she mumbled

"Alright," Curtis replied, as the bones vanished. "Hand-to-hand isn't really my specialty, but perhaps that's just as well."

"I, um, I never knew how to fight before Voltaire and Adair showed me" Kimi admitted

"Relied on your summons?" Curtis guessed.

"Ran and hid." Kimi mumbled. "Its takes time to summon, usually something I don't have"

"Ah," Curtis replied. "You ready?"

Kimi took up a defense position and nodded.

Curtis rushed forward and attacked. His style was similar to Voltaire's, only with less power and more agility.

Kimi did her best to dodge and defend. As she did so, she noticed that he left a lot of openings when he fought, like Voltaire. She began to toss in punches of her own.

Curtis fell back and focused more on evasion, watching for weak points.

Kimi smiled and continued to attack. She was getting better the longer they went.

Curtis went back on the offensive, striking when he could.

Kimi was forced back into defense.

(Should we skip ahead to Voltaire gettting out of the medical wing? Would he look for her if she wasn't in the room?)

It had taken long enough, but Voltaire was finally healed. He half-expected Kimi to show up at some point, but she never did. Either she had found something to do all that time or she was mad at him. He hoped it wasn't the latter. He and the others went over to the cave room, but she wasn't there. Apparently she wasn't sleeping.

Don't freak out, he reminded himself. Kimi could take care of herself, barring incidents involving her kind. If something like that had happened there would already be chaos. She was probably getting something to eat. He sat in the room restlessly for a few minutes before heading to the cafeteria.

Kimi and Curtis were still sparring. They had taken a short brake earlier but they were sparring once again. Kimi had gotten significantly better, or Curtis was just becoming more predictable. They were neck and neck, evenly matched, just waiting for a mistake to tip the scale in their favor.

Voltaire didn't find her in the cafeteria earlier. It bothered him because he wasn't sure where else she would be. He went back to the cave room in case she had come back after he left, but only Ava and Adair were there.

"Kimi is doing okay," Ava reassured, settled into her nest. "She's not scared or anything. She is working hard at something but enjoying it."

The gym, thought Voltaire, turning to leave again. "Thanks Ava."
