Saving Soul

Anja yawned lightly. "If I get fat and lazy, I'll blame you" She mumbled to Adair.

(It is going to be so funny when she meets Bella)

"Alright," Adair yawned. "But this is kinda Ava's fault too." He soon drifted off.

He was caught. The Gales were all around him, their swords embedded within his kneeling form. But it was odd. The swords felt more like pinpricks sinking deeper into him than swords tearing his flesh. And instead of the feeling of blood pouring from him, it felt like there was something flowing into him, a funny warmth that was overtaking his bloodstream. And in the sky, there was one feather, then another, then-

He was flying. He was far above everything he had ever known, had ever feared. The clouds cloaked it all, and he didn't want to see it. He was going higher and higher, fearing nothing, and then-

Adair woke with a start. It was that strange dream again. He had been having that one a lot lately.

Anja grumbled in her sleep and shifted, falling over into his lap. She didn't seem to be disturbed by his dream, she seemed to be having one of her own.

Fire. All around her. Her hair, burning her clothes away, purifying her tainted skin. Feathers sprouting from her skin. She wasn't Anja the human, powerless to protect herself, She was Anja the firebird, Immortal and strong.

Anja exhailed a small amount of smoke.

Adair smiled, stroking Anja's hair lightly while he pondered over his dream. He wondered if Voltaire had been having any weird dreams lately.

Anja exhaled some more smoke and nuzzled his lap lightly

Adair leaned back against Ava while resting an arm over Anja's shoulders. If Anja wasn't ready to wake up then neither was he. He began to drift back to sleep.

Anja exhaled more smoke, then sat up, waking with a start when she started to choke on it. She coughed hard, clearing the smoke from her lungs.

Adair was rattled awake by the coughing. "You okay?"

Anja nodded with a smaller cough. "Yeah, fine"

The wing rose up slightly as Ava poked her head in. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah," Adair replied.

Anja nodded.

"Since you're up already, are you ready to go?" asked Ava. "Or do you want to sleep more?"

"Is Voltaire up?" Anja asked

"Yeah," Voltaire replied. He was munching on some dried meat.

"Then I guess" Anja yawned

"Same," said Adair, yawning as he got out from under the wing, only to climb onto her back.

Anja stretched before following him up.

Voltaire soon joined them, finishing the last of his meat.

"Okay, going now!" chirped Ava, heading outside the cave and then taking off.

Anja settled against Adair, still tired. "How long till we get there?"

"Half-day," Ava replied. "Might take us a little while to find it though."

"Okay" Anja yawned. "I'm going back to sleep"

Adair was already doxing off, having never really woken up. Even Voltaire looked groggily. It wasn't long until both boys were out.

The tournament was filled with rowdiness as always. It seemed like each tournament they went to got more crowded. But first they would have to go to the doctors to donate and get checked up on. Which meant shots. Judging by the way Voltaire was sunk miserably into Ava's feathers, the Hunter was looking forward to it. Adair almost felt sorry for him.

Anja was observing everything with a newfound curiosity.

Adair noticed the Ravens briefly. They must have just gotten done with the donating, judging by their lethargy. Omen coughed up some black-and-white mist, with more white in it than black. That surprised Adair, until he remember that white stood for good luck, not goodness. In that case it made sense.

Anja had been looking the opposite way and missed the mist. "We're going to fight other changelings, and they all have different powers?"
