Sweet as Sugar

"Hailen doesn't seem to mind though. He's glad"

"That's good," Melly replied through a mouthful of food. "I like salty stuff myself. How's the pizza?"

"Its good. The red stuff is kinda sweet and it complements the savory toppings" Mu smiled.

"You mean the sauce? It's tomato sauce," explained Melly. "I don't really like tomatoes much, but I like tomato sauce."

"Yeah" Mu chirped "The sauce stuff"

"Have you had a tomato before?" asked Melly. "It's a round, red veggie, though some people argue over whether it's a fruit or veggie. Or how to pronounce it, for that matter."

"I didn't like how it tasted" Mu replied. "Kail likes them"

"Yeah, same here," Melly replied. "It's weird. I like tomato products, but not actual tomatoes."

"Is it weird?" Mu asked

"Well, tomato products come from tomatoes, and yet I don't like tomatoes themselves?" said Melly. "I think that's kinda funny."

"Well I don't like most fruit but I like candied fruit." Mu replied. "Is that weird?"

"A little," Melly replied. "I would think you would like fruits in general since they're sweet."

"Most fruit are actually tart." Mu replied. "Not sweet at all"

"You like apples though," Melly replied, before raising her hand to signal the waiter. "Some more apple juice please!"

"Just ripe ones. Unripe ones are tart." Mu replied

"You're not suppose to eat them if they're unripe. That's why they taste bad," said Melly, as she started on a piece of cheese pizza. "Ever had strawberries?"

"Citrus in them makes them sour. They're only sweet if they're overripe, but that makes them squishy."

"Well I liked them anyway. But you know that," Melly replied. "I guess you don't like oranges then."

"Nope. But I like orange juice." Mu chirped

"I like oranges but not orange juice," replied Melly. "Though oranges can be really inconsistent. If you get really good ones then they're sweet."

"I only ever had sour oranges." Mu replied

"The smaller ones are usually sweeter," Melly said, debating on whether she had enough room for another pizza slice. "You know, I've heard they've invented an apple that taste like a grape."

"Weird." Mu replied. "Grapes taste funny."

"It really depends on the type of grape," said Melly, deciding to eat another cheese pizza slice after all. "I like the green ones."

Mu was already most of the way through his third slice. "I know, I just don't like the taste."
