Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

Maple continued to stroke her hair, gazing at her young face. Voltaire could walk around with blue hair and purple skin for the rest of his life as far as he was concerned.

Pheobie yawned and slowly drifted off, clinging to him.

Maple started to drift off too, holding Pheobie closer as he rested his head on top of hers.

Pheobie let out a low moan. Her face seemed to flush darker as she just lay there.

(Perhaps Maple should look the little deaths up on the computer thing)

Maple was startled out of sleep. "You alright dear?"

In her slumber, Pheobie didn't hear him. She moaned again, softer, and curled closer, hugging herself tightly.

Now Maple was concerned. He wanted to see if he could look up anything on those squirrels, but he didn't want to leave her alone either. He said he would stay.

Pheobie slept on, her breathing heavy. She curled more into a ball.

"I'm going to be right back. I'm going to see if I can find any info on the main computer about that squirrel that bit you," said Maple as he sat up. The GS could do many things, but looking up detailed information on something was one of the few things it couldn't do. He would have to add that somehow in the future. He pulled the covers over Pheobie.

Pheobie cuddled down into the covers with another small moan. Other than that she didn't stir.

Quietly Maple left the room, and then went over to the main computer at the control center. After he found some results on death vipers, the musical artist Pink, death valley, and other almost-related searches he finally came across the pesky pink squirrels he had been searching for. His expression remained calm and serious until he got to the cure.

"I have to what?"

Goldie made a cheerful noise from the floor next to him.

Maple leaned back in his chair, trying to think of the best way to explain this to Pheobie. His face was red just thinking about it. But it was either this or bleeding her, and it was probably too late for the latter anyway.

"So Goldie, how do you say to a girl the only way to cure her is making out?" Maple asked Goldie.

Goldie got up and rubbed his head against Maple's knees, purring.

"...I guess I could try that, but I'd probably get slapped," Maple replied. petting Goldie. He hadn't been expecting a real answer anyway. He got up. "...Well, I should get back to Pheobie. I'll figure out how to not make this sound like the worst pick-up line ever on the way there. Maybe."

Goldie seemed to smile at Maple as he followed him.

When Maple reached Pheobie's door he paused, before looking back at Goldie. "Sorry pup, you need to stay out here or this is get even more awkward than it already is." He went in and closed the door behind him.

Goldie whined and pawed at the door.

In the bed, Pheobie was still asleep, curled into a ball.

Maple sat down on the bed. "Pheobie?" he asked softly.

Pheobie murmured something softly and scooted closer to him.

Maple stroked her hair, not sure how awake she was. "Um, dear, there's something I need to tell you..."

Pheobie yawned and slowly opened her eyes. "Mmmm. Maple?" she asked

"Yes, it's me," Maple answered. "Um...that squirrel thing that bit you...it has something called an aphrodisiac. Do you know what that is?"

"No" Pheobie mumbled sleepily. "What is it?"

"It's, ah something that makes you fall in love," Maple began. "As in, really really fall in love. As in making out kind of love."
