Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Fine," Voltaire answered, as the three of them came aboard.

"He won't," Adair assured.

"Its okay. Maple said he would turn him into a Rooster if he was mean to me again." Pheobie stated solemnly.

Voltaire snorted at the threat. "I'd like to see him try."

"Taire," Adair said in warning as they went into the lounge.

"I know," Voltaire grumbled back.

Pheobie went back to the kitchen and took the stew out of the fridge. She put it on the stove and turned the burner on to heat it back up for their guests.

"Oh hello my outlaw friends!" greeted Maple as the phoenix trio sat down in the lounge. He turned to Voltaire. "So you have fun terrorizing people with your blue hair and purple skin?"

"More like they couldn't stop laughing at him," Adair replied with a grin.

"Shut up," Voltaire grumbled.

Pheobie dried the dishes and used them for stew for the phoenixes. She took them in, Ava's first then Adair's and Voltaire's.

"Thank you," the phoenixes replied in unison, as they started on their stew.

"Wow, you actually agree on something," teased Maple.

"Tell me about it," Adair joked.

"I make good stew." Pheobie replied. "Do you blame them?"

"There was no blame involved," informed Maple. "Merely an interesting observation."

"Do you want more?" Pheobie asked him.

"Sure," Maple replied, handing her the bowl. "Aren't you going to have some yourself?"

"Not hungry" Pheobie replied, stepping back out to the kitchen.

Maple leaned back, a little worried. Pheobie seemed awfully subdued today. Of course there was everything before to consider...

Pheobie refilled Maple's bowl and brought it out to him.

"Thank you dear," Maple replied. "You really are a dear."

"Does that make you a buck," asked Voltaire with a smirk.

"I am no more a buck than a tree," Maple replied.

Pheobie didn't get it in the slightest.

"If I'm a buck, you're a rooster," Maple added.

"Why the hell would I be a chicken?" asked Voltaire. "What's Adair then?"

"Huh?" asked Adair, would had been busy eating his soup.

"Hmm...dog," Maple guessed.

Pheobie raised a brow but didn't say anything. She still didn't get it.

"What am I?" Ava asked eagerly, wanting to play the game.

"Duh, you're a phoenix," Voltaire replied before eating some more of the stew.

Ava seemed a little miffed at being left out. "I am a phoenix, but what am I like?"

"Mother hen," the Hunter answered. Adair nodded in agreement.

"A rooster, a dog and a mother hen. What a group you are," remarked Maple.

"He's a purebred," Voltaire added, gesturing to Adair. "Explains some of his screwed-up thinking."

"Hey!"

Pheobie seemed even more confused by Ava's joining in. "What?" She mumbled, tilting her head "I don't get it."

"We're trying to guess what animals we would be," Maple explained, keeping it at that. "You have any ideas?"

Pheobie suddenly grinned at him. "You would be a griffin!" She chirped. "Like Goldie, cause you're both really friendly and fluffy and smart!"

"A griffin?" asked Maple, before Goldie came over and rested at his feet. "Perhaps. What what would these three be?"

Pheobie glanced at them a moment before looking back to Voltaire. "Well I'm not sure about Ava and Adair, but he would be a wasp." She replied stiffly.

Voltaire gave her a slightly blank look. Maple snickered.

"...Yeah, guess it fits," Voltaire replied. He had finished his stew. "This wasp will leave when my colors get fixed."
